General Racing Tips
To beat your opponents, you should try to be close to the inside of the track as often as possible. The path around the inside of the track is smaller than the path around the outside, so if you are hugging the inside of the track, you are running a slightly shorter race than your opponents. Try to avoid obstacles and never go off the track, as this will slow you down and cost you precious time as you reorient your vehicle.
Achievements
"Baja 1000" has quite a few achievements that can be earned. There is an achievement for every ticket unlocked in the career, as well as achievements for miles raced, finishing high in races -- including a 1v1 race and by winning without taking damage, unlocking vehicles, wrecking your vehicle and completing the career. The Wii version doesn't keep track of your achievements like the Xbox 360 does, but it's still fun to try for them.
Different Tracks
There are different types of "endurance" style courses you'll race on in "Baja 1000," such as open tracks with mild turns and obstacles, and narrow, winding tracks. You will need to do a lap or two before you know the optimal places to use your turbo boost. It can easily land you into trees or rock walls, slowing you down.
Baja 1000 Features
There are some features of "Baja 1000" that, while not unique to this game, separate it from some other games of the racing genre. The courses in this game are not all closed, so it is possible to cut through some areas of the course to get ahead of your opponents. It is also possible to damage your opponent's vehicles and knock them off course. You could potentially wreck while attempting shortcuts and ramming.
