How to Do the Ultra Shortcut at the Mushroom Gorge in Mario Kart Wii

Shortcuts are used to shave off precious time in the racing game "Mario Kart Wii." Mushroom Gorge, one of the levels in the Mushroom Cup, has one of the few "ultra" shortcuts. These were not meant to be in the game but have been invented by skilled players who discovered tricks to break the physics engine. This particular shortcut is the reverse of another programmed shortcut, which allows players to skip almost the entire level.

Instructions

- 1
  Select "Mushroom Gorge" in either two-player or one-player single race. Obtain a mushroom while racing around the track from a question mark box.

  Veer to the left with the "R" button while approaching the first bridge in the level. Land on the Red mushroom while using the mushroom speed item.
- 3
  Shake your controller downward to add height to your jump, or press up on the d-pad. Aim for the gray cliffside ahead of you.
- 4
  Turn to the left when your cart hits the cliffside. Slide down the cliff to land right in front of the finish line.
