See It Done
If you're stuck in a level and can't fathom how it can possibly be completed, have Luigi show you. While playing as Mario, die eight consecutive times and a Super Green Guide block will appear at the beginning of the level. (You'll be able to tell what it is because of the huge "!" on it.) Hit it, and you'll instantly be watching Luigi complete the level perfectly.
Movement Hints
If you're running low on coins, search out any of the game's dancing flowers. While standing on top of one, shake your Wii remote around to do a spin-jump. Performing this move atop the flower will make it cough up a coin. If you're on the world map and a seemingly unavoidable enemy approaches, go to your item menu and activate a star; doing so will make the enemy disappear.
Infinite Lives
Fans of the original "Super Mario Brothers" will remember this trick from years ago. While in Level 2-3, approach the finishing flag, you'll find the turtle moving slowly on the steps. For bouncing on top of him, you'll get one extra life. If you time your jump correctly, you can continue to bounce off his shell as many times as you want. You can earn up to 99 lives this way, the maximum in the game.
