How to Unlock Different Characters in Super Smash Bros Melee

̶0;Super Smash Bros. Melee̶1; on the GameCube features14 starting fighters from several Nintendo franchises. Along with these fighters are 11 additional combatants that can be unlocked by dedicated gamers. Each unlockable character requires his own set of requirements to be fulfilled--ranging from playing through the game once, to clocking over 20 hours of game time. Each unlockable character must also first be defeated if you wish to add him to the character selection screen.

Instructions

- 1
  Play ̶0;Classic Mode̶1; or ̶0;Adventure Mode̶1; once to completion with any character to unlock Jigglypuff.

  Play through ̶0;Classic Mode̶1; ten times with ten different characters. Face off against Young Link for a spot in your character selection screen.

  Complete ̶0;Classic Mode̶1; with the fourteen default game character to be challenged by Marth. Defeat him to unlock him as a playable character. Complete ̶0;Classic Mode̶1; with Marth to be challenged by Roy.

  Go to the ̶0;Events Mode̶1; and finish the event labeled ̶0;Legendary Pokemon.̶1; It is the 37th event and upon completion you will fight against Pichu. Defeat him to unlock him.

  Finish the 28th event in ̶0;Events Mode̶1; and Ganondorf will challenge you to a battle. Defeat him and you'll unlock Link's nemesis.

  Clock 20 hours in ̶0;VS. Mode̶1; to be challenged by Mewtwo. Once you defeat him, this Pokemon will be added to your roster.

  Start ̶0;Adventure Mode̶1; with any character and finish any stage with a two displayed in the seconds column of the timer. For example, finish a stage with two minutes and forty-two seconds remaining. Your next battle will be against Luigi and Peach. Defeat them both to unlock Luigi.

  Enter the ̶0;100-Man Melee Mode̶1; and defeat every combatant. Upon doing so, you will battle Falco from the ̶0;Star Fox̶1; games. Defeat him and he will be unlocked.

  Finish ̶0;Adventure Mode̶1; or ̶0;Classic Mode̶1; with Mario and without using a continue to unlock Dr. Mario.

  Complete ̶0;Classic Mode,̶1; ̶0;Adventure Mode,̶1; and ̶0;Target Test̶1; with every character both default and unlockable. This will lead to a battle with Mr. Game & Watch. Defeat him to unlock the game's final character.
