Walkthrough: How to Beat Mario Kart for the Wii

"Mario Kart Wii" is a kart racing game where you race as all-time favorite Nintendo characters. In the "Mario Kart Wii" game, your goal is to stay ahead of the other players while staying on the track, avoiding obstacles and avoiding projectiles shot at you from other opponents. Winning first place without hitting many obstacles gives you stars and first place trophies that unlock other characters, vehicles and race courses.

      Create a new license when you get to the title screen. Choose the Mii character you would like on your license and press "A" to create.

      Press "A" on "Grand Prix" and select "50cc," "100cc" or "150cc." "50cc" is for karts only, "100cc" is bikes only and "150cc" is bikes and karts. With each increased level, increases the CPU difficulty and track obstacles. "Win "Grand Prix" races by placing first to win the "Mario Kart Wii" game and to unlock new items. You accumulate points depending on your place in the race. Accumulate the most points to win the "Grand Prix" races. Win "Time Trial" races to unlock extra characters, races and vehicles. There are eight "Grand Prix" cups with four tracks to a cup; four of the cups need to be unlocked by racing and winning the other available race cups.

      Win the races by using techniques such as drifting around corners to save time, using a rocket boost at the start of the race and keeping protective items behind you. You can drift around corners by letting go of the acceleration and allowing your kart to slide in the direction of the turn. Use a rocket boost by pressing "2" to accelerate at the last second. Keep protective items behind you by holding "down" on the directional pad to hold items such as shells or bananas that also can be used as projectiles.

      Shoot projectiles such as shells, bananas or Bob-ombs at your opponents, or light strikes to slow everyone else down. Use items such as Bullet Bill or mushroom power-ups to speed ahead. Shoot projectiles by pressing the "Up" direction on your directional pad or the "Down" direction to shoot projectiles behind you. Use mushroom power-ups on straightaways; be careful not to fall off the edges of the racetrack. Falling off the edge can cost you the race.
