How to Return a Wii Game

Video game companies do not allow the copying of video games. Therefore, because of copyright laws, the only way to return a Wii game is if it unopened. This is to prevent users from opening the game, making a copy and then getting their money back. Most stores and retail websites will not return opened copies of Wii games. If it is opened and does not work, most stores will exchange the damaged copy for a new copy of the same game.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate your receipt or the gift receipt that goes with your Wii purchase. You can also use your credit card or loyalty card at some stores to look up a receipt if you have misplaced your receipt. Some stores return without a receipt with a valid identification card.

    • 2

Visit the guest service desk at the store where the Wii game was purchased (or the same store in another city) and present the game and receipt. Explain why you are returning the game. You may be asked whether you want a refund or a new game.

    • 3

Visit the customer service section of the website where the game was purchased if it was bought online. View that retailer's return policy. For example, Amazon accepts returns for unopened video games within 30 days of receipt of shipment. You then must follow its Online Returns Center procedure (see Resources). Also, some stores such as Best Buy will allow customers to return online purchases to one of its brick-and-mortar stores (see Resources).
