Casting
Use the Wiimote to perform the casting motion. Slower swings produce less distance, and harder swings yield more distance. Angle the Wiimote in the direction you want the line to go, and the motion-sensing technology will cast accordingly.
Reeling
Move the Nunchuck controller in a circular motion for reeling. Slow motions will reel at a controlled pace, while fast motions will reel very rapidly.
Hooking
Hook a fish by waiting for the on-screen prompt (the Wiimote will simultaneously vibrate) that indicates you have a bite. Swing the Wiimote sharply upward to hook the fish. If the fish is at the end of an angled line, swing the Wiimote upward at the same angle as the line.
Landing
Land fish by using controlled motions when reeling the fish in, then pulling up on the Wiimote to land the fish in your boat.
Fights
Some fish will fight against capture, making it difficult to land them. While the methods used to fight fish are the same methods you already use to catch and land them, when a fight takes place, your line tension meter (on the bottom of your game screen) will turn red. This indicates that the line may break, so use very slow and careful movements to keep the fish on the line.
Virtual Guide
Starting with the first level of "Big Catch: Bass Fishing," a virtual fishing guide is available for extra guidance. The guide is available in only the earlier levels of the game, but he is a valuable resource who can give you hints about where to fish and how to efficiently land fish.
