Things You'll Need
Instructions
Eject the "Wii Sports" disc and examine it. Make sure the disc is not scratched or dirty. If the disc is dirty, clean it with a mild soap solution and a paper towel. Alternately, a glasses cleaner and microfiber will work well to clean a dirty disc. Glass cleaner may also buff out some small scratches. If it is extremely scraped up, you may need to replace the disc.
Insert the dry and clean disc back into your console.
Check the plugs and connections to the Wii console. Verify also that the wire connecting the Sensor Bar to the console is connected and undamaged. If the cable is damaged and the sensor bar doesn't function, replace it.
Power on the Wii console. Verify that the "Wii Sports" disc appears in the Wii menu. If the game does not appear on the screen, you may need to replace your "Wii Sports" disc.
Attempt to click the "Wii Sports" icon with your remote cursor. If your Wii doesn't respond to the Wii, make sure the remote is connected to the console. Open the battery hatch on the Wiimote and the memory card hatch on the Wii, and press the red "Reconnect" buttons on both.
Position the Sensor Bar so that the black, shiny pieces point toward the front of the TV and toward your play area. The shiny lenses contain the infrared sensors that the Wii remote picks up.
Press the "Home" button on the Wii remote. Look at the battery level for the Wii remote or remotes you are using. If the battery icon is indicated in red, replace the batteries because they are low.
Stand within 8 feet of the Wii console while playing, the maximum range of the stock Sensor Bar. Begin a "Wii Sports" game.
Press the Wiimote's "Home" button, and click the "Reconnect" button. Reconnect another Wii remote in the first player position. If the game starts working now, then your Wii remote is broken and needs repair or replacement.
