Dirty Discs
Debris from discs can get inside the Wii and potentially cause internal problems with the console. Nintendo recommends using a dry, soft cloth to clean the discs. Wipe from the inside-out to avoid scratching the disc.
Dust Collection
Spray a small amount of window cleaner on a cloth and wipe the outside of the console. Clean the vents with a vacuum dusting attachment.
Sticky Buttons
If the Wii remote's buttons collect residue they may begin to stick. Run warm water over a clean toothbrush. Rub the brush over the buttons in a circular motion, and work the bristles into the cracks between the buttons and the controller housing.
Lens Cleaning
Nintendo and third party companies manufacture kits to clean the disc-reading lens inside the Wii. Squeeze two or three drops of cleaning fluid onto the cleaning pad that is located on the lens cleaner. Insert the lens cleaner into the disc slot of the Wii Wait a few seconds and then use the handle to move the cleaner up and down inside the Wii 10 to 20 times. Press the eject button when finished.
Sensor Bar
Use a feather duster or soft cloth to occasionally wipe the sensor bar that reads the signal from the Wii remotes. This will prevent dust buildup that could impact the performance of the Wii.
