How to Turn My Wii Into Bluetooth

The Wii remote is much more versatile than your run-of-the-mill video game remote. It is motion sensitive, so it knows which direction you are moving it, allowing for more interactive gaming. A computer engineering professor at Iowa State University even uses it to teach lessons to his students. One cool feature is that it can also function as a Bluetooth via the Broadcom 2042 chip located inside the remote.

Instructions

  1. Turn Your Wii Remote Into a Bluetooth

    • 1

Verify that your computer has Bluetooth capabilities. Laptops that are newer are more likely to already have an internal Bluetooth adapter; older laptops will require that a Bluetooth adapter be purchased.

    • 2

Download a program called BlueSoleil. This can be done from the software's webpage, bluesoleil.com. There are a number of different software options available for purchase. The most basic driver available is the BlueSoleil 7.0.348.1. It costs around $20 as of November 2010. When the program has been successfully downloaded, run the program.

    • 3

Press both the "1" and "2" buttons on the Wii remote, along with the circular, orange button in the center. Make sure that the LED light on the remote is blinking the entire time you are pressing the buttons.

    • 4

Press the "1" and "2" buttons again when the remote has been connected. It will show that your PC is now connected to NINTENDO-RVT-CNT-01. When it says that, right-click on the Wiimote icon on your computer screen. Choose "Refresh Services."

    • 5

Click on the Human Interface Device icon that appears on the screen highlighted in yellow. Both the Wiimote icon, as well as the Bluetooth HID button, should be highlighted green. There should also be a green dotted line connecting from the Wiimote icon to the center orange circle. The dotted green line means that the Wiimote can now be used as a Bluetooth.
