How Do You Get the Soul Gauge in Sonic and the Secret Rings?

"Sonic and the Secret Rings" is based partly on the classic "Arabian Nights" story, with Sonic having to recreate the ending after the pages have gone missing. The Soul Gauge is a meter that you get at the start of the game, which lets you perform special moves if you can fill it. Filling the meter is simple, provided that you collect the correct items, and the special moves it allows will make beating the game much easier.

Instructions

  Collect Pearls to fill up your Soul Gauge. Gather these shiny white objects by defeating enemies and by running into the Pearls during gameplay.

  Collect Rich Pearls when you see them. They are rare but look like crystal balls with pearls in the middle. Rich Pearls boost the Soul Gauge 20 times more than regular Pearls.

  Use the Speed Break by pressing "Up" on the control pad when your Soul Gauge is full. This allows you to quickly speed through levels and destroy all enemies in your path. However, you still have to avoid obstacles and complete jumps.

  Use the Time Break by pressing "Down" on the control pad when your Soul Gauge is full. This allows you to slow things down.
