How to Fix a Scratched Wii Game

Most Wii games cost between $20 and $60 as of 2010, so it can be extremely annoying when the game gets a scratch and can't play. The Wii games are on discs that can be repaired the same as many other discs. That means there are a handful of home methods that can be tried to fix the scratch.

Things You'll Need

Soft cloths
Cotton swabs
Toothpaste
Dish soap
Car interior cleaner
Disc repair machine
CD case

Instructions

Home Repair

  Add 1 tsp. of dish soap to a bowl full of warm water. Mix the soap into the water until bubbles start to form.

  Dip a soft cloth into the soapy water. Wipe the cloth on the bottom of the disc from the inner ring out toward the outer edge. Dry the disc then test it in the Wii to see if the issue is resolved.

  Place a small amount of white, non-gel toothpaste onto a cotton swab. Clean the disc again, then gently rub the toothpaste in small circles inside the scratch. This method can only work with non-gel toothpaste; any other kind will make the problem worse. Clean the game with soap again. Rinse it and test the disc once more.

  Wipe car cleaner over the surface of the game using the same method as the toothpaste treatment. This cleaner should fill in the cracks and make them nearly invisible. Usually this is enough to get all but the deepest scratches off of the surface.
