  Turn on the Wii console and insert the Mario Kart game disc. Load your saved game or start a new one. Select your favorite character and vehicle. (Read the game insert if you are new to the Wii or the Mario Kart franchise.)

  Enter a cup race in either the Mushroom or Flower cups and post a trophy-winning score. Repeat for the other cup. Try to place in the top three for each individual cup race to make sure you get a place trophy. These first few cups are the easiest, so practice skills like drifting, using items, and braking before the difficulty level begins to rise. Completing this step will unlock new tracks in the Star Cup.

  Enter the Star cup and post a winning race to get a trophy within the top three. Use the skills practiced in step one to avoid the distractions, sharp turns, and pitfalls that start to emerge in this cup. Learn patterns and shortcuts if you are having difficulty placing in a race. Placing in the Star cup will unlock even more tracks.

  Enter the Special Cup and place in the top three in all races to earn another trophy. Doing this will unlock the Shell and Banana Cups. These are retro courses from other games in the Mario Kart franchise. If you are having trouble placing at this stage, experiment with your vehicle and character to find a better fit.

  Place in the top three of the Shell Cup and the Banana Cup to earn trophies. Completing this step will unlock the tracks of the Leaf Cup. Try adding a friend to play with you to help unlock and place in the more difficult tracks.

  Compete and win in the Leaf Cup taking care on the harder courses like "DK's Jungle Parkway" and "Bowser Castle 3." Be persistent and use items wisely and you will unlock the final set of tracks in no time. The Lightning Cup will unlock and you will have all 32 Mario Kart tracks to play!
