In Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, players compete in events that emulate the official venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The game uses a cast from the worlds of Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. The cast features characters including Sonic, Mario, Knuckles, Luigi, Tails, Blaze and many more. Silver the Hedgehog is a secret character in the game that can easily be unlocked.

From the main menu, select Events.

Play each round of mini games and events and pass all events with a golden emblem.

Pass all events and games to set a world record. Once this is completed, Silver the Hedgehog will appear as a playable character.
