Rock Band Guitar for Wii Instructions

"Rock Band" allows players to simulate playing several different instruments in a band. A Nintendo Wii version of the game was released in 2008. A special guitar-shaped controller is used by players for simulating the guitar and bass parts of songs. The guitar controller has several features that are not standard for Wii controllers.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the down the button or buttons indicated on the "Rock Band" note track to be played. Buttons can be held down before the note is to be played.

    • 2

Press up or down on the strum bar when the notes are in the target line at the bottom of the screen. Timing is important in "Rock Band." You must press on the strum bar while the notes are in the target line to successfully play them.

    • 3

Keep holding down the fret buttons after playing the note if a long line is connected to the back of the note. This is a sustained note. Players earn extra points for holding sustained notes down for their entire duration.

    • 4

Press down and up on the whammy bar during sustained notes. Normally this only adds a vibrato effect to the note, but has no score benefit. Glowing sustained notes will cause the Energy bar to fill faster if you use the whammy bar while playing them.

    • 5

Press down on the solo buttons, the smaller fret buttons located next to the guitar body, to play notes during solos. Solo sections are differentiated in "Rock Band" by the guitar note track being tinted with blue. In addition, a percentage meter will appear at the top of the screen indicating the percentage of notes hit in the solo. You do not need to strum when using the solo buttons.

    • 6

Press the five-way switch between the different positions to add guitar effects to the solo tone of the guitar. This has no effect on game play besides altering the sound of the guitar during the solo. The switch effects are wah-wah, flanger, echo, chorus and none, in that order.
