Using the Wii Remote
Turn on the Wii console and insert the "Guitar Hero" disc. Start your "Guitar Hero" game from the Wii menu.
Start a game or a round. Select your character, then choose a song or venue. Wait for the song to begin, and hold the remote in one hand, with the IR sensor pointing toward the screen.
Watch for a green note to come down the fret bar. When the note crosses the line at the bottom of the screen, press the "B" trigger on the bottom of the remote.
Look for a red note to appear on the fret. Press the "Right" directional button on the Wiimote D-pad.
Notice when a yellow note appears on the fret, and press the "A" button as it crosses the line.
Look out for a blue note, and press the "1" button as it crosses the line.
Watch for an orange note, and press the "2" button when it appears.
Wait for the Star Power meter to fill. When you are ready to use your Star Power, press the "Up" button on the directional pad.
Activate the whammy bar when you have a long note to hold. You can shake the Wii remote to alter the tone as you would with a whammy bar.
Using the Guitar Controller
Connect the neck and head of the guitar controller to the body of the controller. The piece should slot into place, and you can lock it down with the switch at the back of the device.
Flip the guitar over and open the large rectangular on the back. This will reveal a white cable you can attach the remote to.
Clip the remote to the white cable and slide the remote into the slot. You can bunch the wrist strap into the side compartment. Close the back panel.
Begin the game, and use the guitar controller buttons to play your game.
