Horror Games for the Nintendo Wii

Playing a horror game on the Wii can be a chilling experience. Swinging the Wii remote as a weapon, you'll forget you are in the safety of your home as you shoot, slice and attack beings from other worlds. For a frightening and realistic horror game, try one of these critically acclaimed Wii titles. And remember, when playing, you may want to keep your lights on.
  1. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

    • When you first turn on "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories," the game eerily begins with the warning that the game "plays you as much as you play it." This idea of total immersion in the game makes playing "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" a chilling and disturbing experience. You experience every parent's nightmare by playing as a father who loses control of his car on a snowy winter night. When he regains consciousness, he realizes that his 7-year old daughter is missing. He sets off to find her and enters a world that mysteriously freezes over, leaving him trapped in ice mazes that he must frantically flee. He is chased by hideous monsters and has numerous nightmare paranormal experiences. To up the terror level, at various stages in the game, you have a psychotherapy session where you answer various questions about life and fear. Based on your input and personality, the game scenario will change to "push" your fear buttons and make sure you are as terrified as humanly possible.

    Cursed Mountain

    • Playing as a famous mountain climber named Eric, you travel to one of Tibet's highest mountains to find your missing brother. Little do you know that the challenging part is not ascending the mountain's peak but dealing with the strange mountain goddess and evil spirits that do not like your intrusion in their land. The fascinating part of this game is the painstaking authenticity that the game developers have added to Eric's mission. All gods, spirits, temples and worlds are based on current Tibetan and Buddhist customs and religious teachings. The notes and clues that you find realistically depict actual rituals and traditions used to ward off evil spirits and to protect yourself from the intermediate world known as Bardo. When playing, you'll be terrified wondering what is real life and what is just part of the game.

    Dead Space Extraction

    • In this sequel to "Dead Space," you play as a colonist on a planet that has activated an alien artifact called the Marker. You try to fight your way off of the planet before being destroyed by horrific creatures called Necromorphs that thrive on eating living flesh. Necromorphs are like zombies, but they are much harder to kill. Instead of blasting their heads off, you'll need to methodically dismember them. The chilling atmosphere, lack of weapons and ammunition, realistic characters, unforgettable back story and impressive graphics makes "Dead Space Extraction" a terrifying experience.
