How to Make a Link Zelda Costume

Instructions

    • 1

Trace the outline of a shield onto the cardboard using a pen and cut it out with a pair of scissors. Create a loop on the back of it by pressing two pieces of duct tape together with their sticky sides facing each other and taping both ends of the strip to the shield.

    • 2

Paint the front of the shield using acrylic paint. Link's shield is blue with a red bird design on the bottom and a pyramid of three yellow triangles on the top. It has a silver border.

    • 3

Draw a sword onto a new piece of cardboard, using a ruler as a straight edge. Cut the sword out and lay it on top of another piece of cardboard. Cut out this second sword.

    • 4

Lay the two sword-shaped pieces of cardboard together and wrap them together with duct tape. Coat the entire sword with tape.

    • 5

Paint the sword with acrylic paint. Paint the blade silver and the hilt blue with a yellow triangle in the middle.

    • 6

Take the sword and shield to a well-ventilated area and lay them on top of a layer of newspaper. Put on your face mask and spray them with clear acrylic. Spray both sides of the sword. This layer of acrylic will protect the paint from scratches. Allow the acrylic to dry for an hour.

    • 7

Wrap the measuring tape around your forehead and make note of how many inches your head is in circumference. Divide this in half and add an inch. Draw a line this long on the yard of green fabric.

    • 8

Using the line you just drew as a base, draw a triangle that is two feet high. Create a second triangle with the same dimensions. Cut the pair of triangles out and sew them together along the two longest edges. Turn the resulting cap inside out.

    • 9

Cut a 4-inch slit down the front of the green shirt. Fold the edges of the slit in by half an inch and sew the them down with a sewing machine.

    • 10

Cut the fingers off of the work gloves.

    • 11

Put on the pants and white shirt. Put the extra large green shirt on over the first shirt and bind it about your middle with a belt. Put on the boots and stuff the hem of your pants deep inside them.

    • 12

Attach the elf ears to your own by dabbing the inside with spirit gum and holding them in place over your ears for 30 seconds. Elf ears are usually made out of latex, and you can find them in a wide variety of complexions.

    • 13

      Put on your cap.
