Wii Sword Compatible Games

The Nintendo Wii video game system allows users to enjoy a more interactive approach to gaming unlike any other console. The Wii's gameplay provides gamers the ability to use the Wiimote controller and/or Nunchuck accessory to pull off the in-game action, like being able to mimic rolling a bowling ball, throwing a baseball, and swinging a sword. The Wii provides several video games where you will use your Wiimote as if you were brandishing a sword as you slay your enemies.
  1. Wii Swordplay

    • The innovative Wii-style gameplay fits perfectly for sword fighting, as the Wii-Mote is held like the handle of a sword, and you swing the virtual blade towards your opponent. The Wii gives gamers a fun and safe alternative to the real thing. Gamers will want to make their sword fighting as authentic as possible, and can purchase various accessories to increase the fun factor. The Combat Pack, complete with two sword variations and a shield attachment, makes the swing of the Wii-Mote feel more realistic. If you've ever wanted to be a Jedi Knight, then the Sabre Sword accessories brings you one step closer, and they come in red, blue, green and purple offering customizable options. These accessories can also improve your sword accuracy. The Wii offers a great variety to sword fighting games for all ages.

    Swordplay Wii Games

    • One of the launch titles for the Wii was developer Ubisoft's "Red Steel," released in November 2006 with a Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating of Teen, for violence, language, and mild suggestive themes. The story is the typical bodyguard must become a samurai to rescue his girlfriend from Yakuza thugs, and the gameplay is a first-person-shooter that combines gun-play and sword fighting. The player uses the Wiimote as a katana, and the Nunchuck as a parrying blade for defense. The problem with the swordplay combat is that the in-game moves are limited compared to how you swing your controller. "Red Steel" is only for single player gameplay.

If you're looking for two player swordplay with solid controls, then play Nintendo's "Wii Sports Resort," released in July 2009 with a ESRB rating of Everyone, meaning for all ages. "Wii Sports Resort" comes with Wii MotionPlus, which attaches to the bottom of your Wii-Mote, and provides better sensitivity making for smoother gameplay. This new technology is perfect for the Swordplay minigame on "Wii Sports Resort," as the in-game sword moves fluidly with the movement of the Wiimote. Players can choose from one of three modes, Duel, Speed Slice and Showdown. Duel allows two players to fight it out until one is knocked off a platform into the pool below. Speed Slice allows two players to cut through various things, with the winner being quicker and more precise. Showdown let's players run through wave after wave of opponents, striking down multiple foes while competing against the clock.

    Are You A Jedi?

    • If you decide to get the Sabre Sword attachment, then you will definately want to try one of the Star Wars inspired video games. "Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels" and "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed," both released by LucasArts in 2008 and rated Teen for Violence. These games allow gamers to use the Force to crush their foes. "Lightsaber Duels" allows two players to go head to head using some of the series iconic characters, while "The Force Unleashed" is one player as you control Darth Vader's apprentice as he slices his way through Jedi.

The Wii video game console brings family and friends together, and off the couch with innovative gameplay. What better way to do this than by swinging a sword at one another.
