Mario Kart Wii
The 2008 release featured the debut of the "Mario Kart" series on Wii, and its popularity carried over nicely from older consoles, netting a score of 8.5 from Gamespot.com. Players can choose from a wide range of characters that have appeared throughout the Mario games and race against computer controlled or player controlled opponents on a number of different courses. It also features a multiplayer system that is tied in well with the game, and is fun and easy to get into for players of all ages and skill levels.
Pitfall: The Big Aventure
Originally introduced to the gaming world in 1982 on the Atari system, "Pitfall" has been reproduced a number of times since, and the 2008 release for the Wii console brings it back yet again. Because of the retro style of gameplay, the classic Wii controller is a great fit for players. For those unfamiliar with the premise of Pitfall, it takes place in the Peruvian jungle where the player attempts to weave the main character through a series of puzzles and time based maneuvers. Users will have to battle creatures, shamen, and other foes en route to making their way through various settings of lush scenery.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Earning an impressive 9.5 out of 10.0 on IGN, "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" follows up nicely from its predecessors on the Gamecube and Nintendo 64 respectively. Featuring 35 characters to choose from, players can make their selection and engage in an entertaining brawl with friends or computer controlled opponents across 40 different levels of play. Boasting full motion-animation graphics, a lengthy single player campaign mode that takes roughly eight hours for the average player to beat, and nicely integrated online play, "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" ranks up there among the very best games on the Wii platform.
