How to Get Platinum in Wii Sports Power Throws

Wii Sports features several different games to play. One is Bowling, where players mimic the movement of throwing a bowling ball down a lane. While gamers can participate in a standard round, the Power Throw mode in Bowling challenges players to knock down a growing number of pins. Starting with only ten pins on the screen and ending with 91 pins, players will need to control their throws while using a few tricks to gain the platinum medal.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the Power Throws mode in Wii Sports.

    • 2

Use the directional pad to position your bowler on the center of the lane. Hold the Wii Remote up to your chest and press and hold the ̶0;B̶1; button.

    • 3

Bring your arm backwards and then forwards. At the end of the forward momentum, flick your wrist upwards and release the ̶0;B̶1; button. This will add speed to the bowling ball as it goes down the lane.

    • 4

Knock down all ten of the pins in the first round for 20 points. Each subsequent round adds more pins. Knock all the pins down in one throw to earn double the points.

    • 5

Repeat this strategy until the fifth round of the game, when 36 pins are present on the lane.

    • 6

Curve your wrist inward during the flick to sharply angle the ball during the throw. Because the lanes have bumpers, your ball will bounce from side to side as it travels down the lane and will knock down more pins at the end.

    • 7

Move your bowler to the far side of the lane that corresponds to the hand you're using during the final round. If you are right handed, for example, move the bowler as far to the right as possible. Press the directional pad once in the other direction so your bowler is not hugging the wall.

    • 8

Press ̶0;A̶1; and angle your bowler completely towards the wall.

    • 9

Hold ̶0;B̶1; and swing your arm back and bring it forward without adding a flick at the end. Release ̶0;B̶1; and the ball should land on the bumper wall and slide downward. When it hits the end, all 91 pins will fall down at once.

Achieve a score of 700 using these tips to win the platinum medal.
