DDR Wii Tips

Dance Dance Revolution has been a massive hit in arcades for more than a decade, and continues to provide countless hours of fun for those who have brought their game home for the Nintendo Wii. If you have always wanted to get into the game but never wanted to embarrass yourself, take these tips to heart.
  1. Weight Your Pad

    • DDR Pads for home consoles, the Wii included, are notorious for not being user friendly. Because most of the pads available in stores are simple plastic pads, they have a tendency to slide across most floors. This is especially bad with carpets and rugs. Some people who have no problems with a semi-permanent solution to this problem have turned to taping their gamepads to the floor with duct tape. However, if you don't want to have to explain why there is a giant plastic dance pad in the middle of your floor, you can weigh it down with books or other heavy objects.

    Don't Look Down

    • Lots of new DDR players have a tendency to try and look at the screen, then at the dance pad, then back at the screen, and so on and so forth. If you ever want to be good at the game, you need to break this habit and keep your eyes on the screen at all times. The constant switching back and forth prevents you from truly focusing on the game commands--and simply staring at the pad wouldn't be very helpful at all, now would it? Keep your eyes on the arrows on the screen, and trust your feet to do the rest.

    Start Off Easy

    • Don't bite off more than you can chew. It may look easy to play when you're watching someone else play, but once you're on the dance pad you will quickly learn how difficult it can be. Start on easy and work your way up. Not only does this help you learn the songs better, but you will also get in better shape so that you can physically manage the more difficult, demanding songs on their higher difficulties.
