How to Perform a Jump Stunt in Mario Kart Wii

In the tougher difficulty levels of Mario Kart Wii, you’ll find it next to impossible to win a race without taking advantage of speed boosts from jump stunts. Any time you drive over a ramp or another obstacle that sends your kart or bike into the air, you can perform a jump stunt. It’s more than just fancy kart-work, though; when you touch the track again, you’ll get a huge speed boost that can help you buzz past opponents and close the gap with the leaders. Follow these steps and tips to add jump stunts to your arsenal of Mario Kart Wii tactics.

Instructions

    • 1

Start any type of race or battle event in Mario Kart Wii. Jump stunts can be performed on every track and in every type of race.

    • 2

Race around the track until you spot a ramp. It can be a regular ramp or a ramp outfitted with its own speed-boosting accelerator pad.

    • 3

Drive up the ramp. At the exact moment your kart or bike hits the end of the ramp, jerk the Wii Wheel backward towards your body. Your character will perform an elaborate stunt while in midair.

    • 4

Brace yourself for another speed boost. As soon as your kart or bike hits the track, you’ll get a burst of acceleration that is about as big as the boost you get from the pink and yellow accelerator pads found throughout most tracks.

    • 5

Experiment with jump stunts by looking for other opportunities to execute them. They’re not restricted to ramps; any kind of drop-off, hill or bump in the road that gets your kart or bike even slightly airborne is an opportunity for a jump stunt. Just jerk back on the Wii Wheel at the exact moment your vehicle leaves the ground to get the maximum value from this tactic.
