How to Unlock R.O.B. in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Unlock R.O.B. in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. R.O.B. is a robotic character from the early days of Nintendo. In Brawl, he has the ability to fly and use several powerful attacks that make him a good, if under-rated, character to unlock. He can be unlocked through two achievements or through playing the solo story campaign. R.O.B. can be slow, but some of his moves are very entertaining. Love him or hate him, he can make for a surprising opponent.

Collecting R.O.B. can be done if you earn 250 different trophies (no repeats) through a combination of storyline and open melee brawling. Sometimes trophies repeat, so you might need to be patient when using this method to unlock R.O.B. This is one way for the "hybrid" player (someone who plays both the storyline and brawls with friends) to unlock R.O.B.

Brawling for R.O.B. is another method; simply brawl your way through 160 different open brawls and you'll unlock R.O.B.

Finding R.O.B can be done through the Subspace Emisary storyline. Defeating the boss "Meta Ridley" at the end of "Subspace Bomb Factory" will unlock R.O.B. Ridley will "melt" away, leaving a sad, penitent R.O.B. who will offer to join you to correct all the wrongs done by him. This is a great reward for those loyal to the storyline and a fun cut scene.

Using R.O.B. in a fight can be tough as he does not grab walls, nor does he climb them. He can only mid-air jump a wall, which means if you get knocked off you'll be in trouble. His special move is also fairly weak as it leaves him open to counter-attack. Sticking to his lasers and gyros is your best option.
