How to Complete the Deep Dark Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy

The Deep Dark Galaxy is the first of the Garden Galaxies in Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy game. With both beaches and ghost ships, this galaxy is a mix of what you may recognize from previous galaxies. It also features a hidden star and a possible daredevil comet.

Instructions

    • 1

Blast yourself to the planet from the island using the cannon. You can collect a few 1-up mushrooms in this area before blasting off. When you blast off, be sure to aim for the star, which gives you invincibility and helps you on the next step. On the planet, kill the enemies, and obtain the fire flower. This gives you the fire suit and transforms you into Fire Mario. Sling yourself back to the island.

    • 2

Light the torches with your fire power, which allows you to open the gate, dive into the water, follow the star bits and spin to flip the switch that opens the next gate. Swim to the surface, and battle the first boss, Kamella, and collect a star. If a daredevil comet is in orbit, you have to do this with only one health point.

    • 3

Knock the enemy in the next area off the cannon, and head into the tunnel. Once in the lake room, you can swim to the left wall, jump between the two walls and spin jump to the ledge. This is a significant shortcut for this level.

    • 4

Find the bubble blower to the right, and ride a bubble to the yellow ledge. Drop down, and pass two torches, climb the pole, and blast to the next planet using the bubble blower. Stomp the next three stumps to reveal another bubble blower to ride to the last planet where you need to knock three tennis balls into the melon at the core and collect the second star.

    • 5

Dive to the bottom of the lake in the next area, and go through Guppy the Whale's eight rings to collect the final star.
