When
There̵7;s no way to predict when a meteor shower will happen on ̶0;Animal Crossing: City Folk,̶1; but a general announcement is made on the virtual town̵7;s community billboard next to city hall indicating the day of the meteor shower. Like real life, the meteor shower is only visible at night and you need to be looking up at the sky to see it. You can look heavenward by coming to a complete stop, then pressing the up directional key on the Wii remote control̵7;s directional pad. If the weather in your virtual city is cloudy or stormy, you won't be able to see the meteor shower, which, despite its day of arrival having been announced, arrives at no specific time during the nighttime hours.
Message
Special events that take place on ̶0;Animal Crossing: City Folk,̶1; such as fishing contests, bug-catching contests and special sales at the town store, are announced on the virtual town̵7;s community billboard. Specifically, the message announcing the meteor shower reads: ̶0;Weather Report. Today is the meteor shower! How lovely to take an evening off and watch the night sky.̶1; In total, the meteor shower lasts less than two minutes and can be seen from anywhere in the virtual town.
Shooting Star
Unlike a meteor shower, a shooting star on ̶0;Animal Crossing: City Folk̶1; provides you with a special gift if you make a wish as the star passes overhead. To make a wish on a shooting star, you must press the ̶0;A̶1; button at the right moment when the shooting star appears. Unlike the meteor shower, there's no announcement made about when this celestial event will happen. Your avatar can't be holding anything in its hands when attempting to wish on a shooting star. Once you've wished on the shooting star properly, a character will appear to present you with a gift. A shooting star will appear only once, so if you see multiple shooting stars, then you're witnessing a meteor shower.
