Help for The Tale of Despereaux on the Wii

Wii Movement Controls

• Different movements and controls using the interactive Wii remote make the mouse move in the game. The analog stick on the nunchuk controls Despereaux's movements. Pressing "A" makes him jump. If you press "A" and hold it, the mouse's ears flip out and create a gliding motion to stay in the air longer. Press yourself against a wall and press the "A" button to shimmy across it. If you encounter candles and wooden poles, use the "A" button to climb them. Duck underneath tight places with the "B" button.

Action Controls

• The Wii remote controls the attack moves for Despereaux. Swing the remote forward to use a basic attack. Swing the remote up and down for a stronger attack. Hold "C" and swing the remote to use a running attack. These attacks cause the most damage, but they also make it easier for enemies to attack.

Cheese

• Cheese pieces add to Despereaux's score and life and serve as a guide through every level. If you are lost and do not know where to travel, look for the glowing cheese pieces and collect them. These pieces guide you to the next scene. After a while, new cheese pieces appear if you are lost for a long time. In some levels, multiple cheese paths lead to the end of a level.

Heights

• If you feel stuck in a level, looking up can solve your problem. The game focuses heavily on climbing and getting across objects. Look for small things to climb to get through levels faster. Take your time at each point, because when you drop from the top, you have to start over at the bottom.
