Aerobics Activities
The aerobics category actually has four activities -- hula-hooping, step aerobics, running and boxing. Wii Fit has basic versions of each of the four, with an advanced step game, a super hula hoop activity and a two-player run. Wii Fit also has free activities for both step aerobics and running.
Unlocking Free Run
Most exercises in Wii Fit unlock after you've spent a certain amount of time playing the game. Free run, however, unlocks after you complete the basic run activity six times. Therefore, it's possible to unlock free run, which is technically the last aerobics exercise, before you unlock other activities in this category.
Using Free Run
Free run offers longer courses than the other Wii Fit run exercises, with 10-, 20- and 30-minute runs. In this activity, you're free to change the channel on your television and watch another program. The Wii remote keeps track of your run time and makes sounds at intervals to let you know how much time remains and when you've completed the course.
Free Run Tips
Running on Wii Fit works bests when you wear pants with pockets. Place the Wii remote in your pocket in an upright position. If your pants are too loose or have especially large pockets, the Wii remote may move around too much as you jog, which can negatively impact your score. In that case, it may be best to hold the Wii remote in your hand while running.
