How to Turn the Files From a NAND to WAD

WAD files are packaged Wii games that contain playing and installation data. Once the packages are installed, the data is converted into NAND files. If you want to install NAND game files on your Wii, you need a WAD packing application that will convert and pack the files for use on your Wii. This process helps you back up your stored games and save games for future installation if your Wii console memory is filled. The conversion must be done on your home computer before you add the WAD files to your Wii console.

Instructions

    • 1

Point your Wii remote at the "SD Card" icon and press "A." This loads the Wii File menu.

    • 2

Select the game NAND file you want to convert to your SD card. Confirm the selection and wait for the file conversion to complete.

    • 3

Remove the SD card from the Wii and insert it into your computer. Load the root of the SD card through "My Computer." Find the NAND files labeled in the numbered folder like "100101201." Copy and paste these folders to your desktop.

    • 4

Download a Wii WAD packer. At the time of this publication, there are two options available, the WAD Packer and Trent Fox's Wad Packer. Both have the same setup and perform the same options. Open the software once the download completes.

    • 5

Select the "Import" option. Choose the NAND folder you want to convert into a WAD. Click "OK."

    • 6

Select the "Add Trucha Signed" option. This will make it compatible with almost any system version of the Wii.

    • 7

Click on "Convert" and then select the new save location for your WAD file. Press "OK" and the NAND files will convert to WAD files.

    • 8

Add the WAD files to your SD card and the process is complete.
