How to Build a Fire on Harvest Moon: Magical Melody for the Wii

The Wii release of "Harvest Moon: Magical Melody" is virtually identical to the GameCube version, aside from the addition of motion-sensitive controls and the removal of the female character option. Both versions allow players to create fires for cooking, but the controls for the Wii version are somewhat less intuitive than those for the GameCube, and they may be confusing to new players. Ultimately, building a fire is just a matter of knowing which buttons to press -- at the beginning of each game, the main character starts out with a "bonfire set," the only item necessary to create a fire.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the main character to an outdoor location near a water source. The fire will not catch unless there is water nearby.

    • 2

Press the "B" button on the underside of the Wii Remote to select the character's backpack.

    • 3

Press the left and right buttons on the directional pad of the Wii Remote to cycle through the items in the backpack.

    • 4

Press the "Z" button on the front of the Wii Nunchuk when you see the icon that looks like a book of matches. The matches represent the bonfire set, and the "Z" button causes the character to use whichever item appears in the backpack selection menu.

    • 5

Press "Z" to try again if the fire does not catch immediately. It may take a few attempts before a bonfire appears.

    • 6

Put the fire out before leaving the area by selecting and using the watering can, which is also found in the character's backpack.
