How to Beat the Opening Scene of Epic Mickey

Run up the stairs on the right and speak with Gust, the first person you encounter. Gus helps guide you through the rest of the first scene. Follow the instructions that prompt you to do the spin move and then continue down the path.

Smash the second control panel across the gap. Get to the bottom level again by walking off the ledge at your immediate right, going through the door that was previously closed and grabbing everything you can find in the room. Go back up the path you used to get to the top level, this time using your spin attack on everything you see to collect items along the way, such as the barrels and the flags.

Continue until you meet Gus again. Talk to Gus and walk through the tutorial regarding the use of paint and thinner. After completing the tutorial, walk down the passage until you get to the door, then use paint on the middle gear until the door opens.

Follow the path and use thinner to remove the door frame of the next door. The next obstacle is a series of rocks blocking the path. Cover the floor with thinner to drop the rocks down a level and then paint over the same space to build yourself a crossing.

Handle the enemies in the next area using either paint or thinner. Explore the area to look for hidden items; travel up the ramp when you're ready to proceed.

Walk along the path using thinner to remove obstacles and using paint to fill in any shimmering areas where you need to bridge a gap that you can't jump over. When you find a gear, use your spin move on it. Jump down and continue moving forward in the same way until you find the second gear, then use your spin move on it. Walk out the door to complete the stage.
