Download the Vertex Box application from the DasDonkey website. Save the "DasDonkey Vertex Box v2.1.exe" file to a dedicated folder.
Minimize the Vertex Box application window and launch the BrawlBox program. Click on "File" in the main BrawlBox tool bar and select "Open." Highlight the SSBB model file that you want to edit and click "Open."
Right-click on "Model Data" in the left-hand navigation and select "Export." Change the file name to "model" and browse to the folder containing the Vertex Box application. Click the "Save" button to export the model file.
Click on the "Model Data" icon from within the BrawlBox navigation window to expand the list of editable vertices. Right-click the vertex that you want to edit and select "Export." Change the file name to "vertex.ddf" and browse to the folder containing the Vertex Box application. Click "Save" to export the vertex file. Note the numerical value of the "MDL0 Offset" field in vertex data listing.
Close the BrawlBox application window and browse to the location of the Vertex Box program. Double-click on the "DasDonkey Vertex Box v2.1.exe" file and click the "Create 3DS File" button. Close the Vertex Box application.
Launch the 3DS Max application. Click on "File" in the main 3DS Max tool bar and select "Import." Browse to the folder containing the Vertex Box application and highlight the "DDV.max" file. Click the "Import" button to open the vertex file.
Click the "Modify" tab located on the right-hand side of the 3DS Max tool bar. Click the "Vertices" icon underneath the Selection heading within the Modify tab. Edit the scale, size, location and rotation of the various vertices by using the available 3DS Max tools.
Click on "File" in the main 3DS Max tool bar and select "Export." Browse to the folder containing the Vertex Box application and click the "Save" button. Exit the 3DS Max application.
Launch the Vertex Box application and click the "Insert 3DS On MDL0" button. Enter the MDL0 Offset number from Step 4 and click the "Ok" button. Close the Vertex Box application.
Launch the Brawl Box application. Click on "File" in the main tool bar and select "Open." Highlight the SSBB model file that you want to update and click "Open." Right-click the "Model Data" icon and select "Replace." Browse to the location of the Vertex Box application and double-click on the "Model" file to replace the old vertex files with the newly edited vertex files.
Click on "File" in the main Brawl Box tool bar and select "Save As." Browse to the location of your SSBB model files and click the "Save" button. The game will now load the modified vertex model instead of the default character.
