How to Fly in Okami

In "Okami," you take control of a majestic wolf goddess names Amaterasu and her companion, Issun. Together, they tour the magical land of Nippon and uncover ancient magic and powerful evil. Amaterasu can learn many new and powerful abilities as the game progresses, infusing her with all sorts of ancient power. There are even abilities that allow Amaterasu to "float" gracefully -- almost like flying -- around the game's lush environments.

Instructions

  Purchase the Fleetfoot ability in the Shinshu Field Dojo. Fleetfoot allows Amaterasu to gracefully float above the ground and slide away from danger. The Shinshu Field dojo is located just outside of the village of Kamiki, and the Fleetfoot is available for purchase within.

  Swim to the island off of Ryoshima Coast and enter the dojo to learn the Holy Eagle ability. The Holy Eagle allows Amaterasu to perform a second jump in mid air, making her more agile and versatile. The island is easily visible off of the coast and can be reached just by swimming out to it. Enter the lone building on the island, which is a dojo where the Holy Eagle can be purchased.

  Upgrade the Holy Eagle to the Holy Falcon at the Kamui Dojo. The Holy Falcon will increase the speed and height of your leaps, and allows Amaterasu to damage enemies while leaping. Revive the guardian sapling in Kamui and enter the temple located near the two fisherman. Purchase the Holy Falcon upgrade within.

  Return to Kamui Dojo and purchase the Counter Dodge. The Counter Dodge works the same as the Fleetfoot, but allows Amaterasu to attack while evading. It also increases the speed and distance of your dodge. The counter dodge upgrade will only be given if you've mastered the Fleetfoot ability, so hone your skills and do your best to evade incoming attacks to gain this status.
