How to Do the Goldenfish Quest in Monster Hunter Tri

"Monster Hunter Tri" has a few quests that ask you to catch a certain number of Goldenfish within a set time. The easiest way to catch these fish is by using Goldenfish bait, but it's also possible to catch them using regular bait. The two most critical aspects of catching a Goldenfish are reeling in the line at the exact right moment and making sure that it's a Goldenfish that you're reeling in instead of a regular fish.

Instructions

  Play through the game until you get the quest to collect Goldenfish before time has expired. Go to the bridge that leads to Moga Woods and speak to the Carefree Lad. He'll give you two Snakebee Larva. Talk to the Future Alpha Male by the steps leading up to the bridge and he'll give you two Fireflies. Combine the Fireflies and Snakebee Larvas to create Goldenfish bait.

  Go to the east end of the shoreline in Area 10. Goldenfish stand out from other fish because of their obvious gold color. Put a piece of Goldenfish bait on the fishing line and cast it. Press the "A" button once the bait has been tugged underwater to reel in the line and catch a Goldenfish. If you wait too long it will eat the bait and get away, and if you try to reel it in too quickly it will get away without eating the bait.

  Cast the fishing line until you have caught enough Goldenfish to fulfill the quest requirements. If you run out of Goldenfish bait, find a source of unlimited bait near a large log in the southeast section of Area 10. Use regular bait to catch Goldenfish if necessary.
