Secret Characters in Brawl

"Super Smash Bros. Brawl" is a fighting game published by Nintendo for the Wii console. The game allows players to arm themselves with their favorite Nintendo characters and compete in colorful battles. Initially, the roster is comprised of 21 characters from various Nintendo franchises -- although, three of these characters can access multiple forms by using certain moves. As you play through the Subspace Emissary mode, 14 more characters will become accessible.
  1. F-Zero Franchise

    • Captain Falcon is a futuristic racing competitor and space-age bounty hunter. In battle, he uses fiery, close range attacks to overpower his enemies. He can deliver flaming kicks, uppercuts and punches; however, if these attacks miss, the bounty hunter is vulnerable to counter attacks. When dashing around the stages, Captain Falcon is one of the fastest characters in the game.

    Star Fox Franchise

    • Falco, a smart-aleck aviary, and Wolf, a mean-spirited canine, join Fox in representing the Star Fox franchise. Falco and Wolf employ similar weaponry, but use their gadgets in different ways. For example, both characters have a reflector, but Falco's only covers his frontal area, whereas Wolf's covers his entire body. These characters also have various propulsion-based techniques.

    Legend of Zelda Franchise

    • Toon Link, a cartoonish version of the protagonist of the Zelda franchise, use bombs, arrows and boomerang allow for various long-range antics. In close combat, he draws his swords and slashes goes. Ganondorf, the main antagonist of the franchise, uses techniques that are similar to Captain Falcon's moves; however, Ganondorf's attacks are stronger and more sluggish.

    Pokemon Franchise

    • Jigglypuff, a lightweight creature that resembles a balloon, can cover great distances by floating. Despite her non-threatening appearance, her special attacks, such as Rollout and Rest, can launch opponents from the stage. Lucario uses a combination of forceful short range and long range attacks. The more damage Lucario takes during battle, the stronger his attacks become.

    Super Mario Franchise

    • Mario's brother Luigi uses an assortment of goofy attacks to overwhelm opponents. His green fireballs fly straight, rather than bouncing around like Mario's, and his uppercut attack can inflict a great deal of damage if used in close-range fighting. Luigi can also hurl himself headfirst at opponents, leaving behind a trail a smoke.

    Fire Emblem Franchise

    • Marth, a blue-haired swordsman, uses a blade to strike opponents from a distance. The tip of his blade inflicts more damage than the rest of his sword. Marth's special attacks allow him to dance across the stage while rapidly swinging his sword and to counter offensive attacks.

    Earthbound Franchise

    • Ness, a protagonist from the Earthbound series, has three special attacks that function as projectiles: PK Thunder, PK Fire and PK Flash. Each of these attacks has a different range, speed and power. His fourth special move is an energy absorption shield called PK Magnet. Ness also comes armed with a baseball bat and yo-yo for close combat.

    Classic Nintendo

    • Robot Operating Buddy (R.O.B.) was once an accessory for the Nintendo Entertainment System; now, he is a battle robot, specializing in long-range combat. He can fire a laser, which gains power when not in use, and a Gyromite, a spinning top that he can reuse if the initial shot misses. Mr. Game &Watch, a character from 1980s handheld games, comes armed with armed with absurd weapons, including a lion tamer's chair, a bowl of fish and a land turtle.

    Non-Nintendo Franchises

    • While past "Smash Bros." games have only included characters that are exclusive to Nintendo, "Smash Bros. Brawl" invites two characters that have appeared on other game consoles. Sega's mascot Sonic the Hedgehog uses his speed and spinning attacks, which are reminiscent of a buzz saw, to defeat foes in battle. On the other hand, Snake, from the Metal Gear franchise, uses explosives, such as grenades and missiles, to blast opponents.
