How to Do a Tongue Catch

"Mario Super Sluggers" is available exclusively for the Wii and it lets Mario fans play baseball with some of their favorite characters. Different players bring a diverse array of skills to the field, with Yoshis of six different colors being able to perform tongue catches. This involves precise timing. You must catch up to a ball in play before it lands and stretch out Yoshi's tongue at the right moment.

  Select any of the Yoshi characters to use as a fielder. There is also a "Special Ability" mission that eventually opens up that calls for Yoshi to use his tongue catch on at least three out of ten balls hit to the outfield. Yoshi will automatically be in the outfield for this mission.

  Shake the Wiimote immediately after the batter hits the ball. This will make Yoshi sprint toward the circle on the field that indicates the landing spot for the ball.

  Press "A" when you get close to the circle. That will extend Yoshi's tongue to perform the tongue catch. Timing is critical. You must extend Yoshi's tongue just as the ball starts to land. It will probably take a few tries to get the hang of it.
