How to Create a Moveset for a Super Smash Bros Brawl Character

The long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "Super Smash Bros. Melee," "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" features a variety of characters, stages and gameplay modes. Expanded from Melee's 26-character roster, Brawl features more than 30 characters from many Nintendo (and two popular "third-party") franchises. Many fans of the "Super Smash Bros." series enjoy speculating potential characters possibly considered for inclusion in the game. This speculation often leads to fan-created "movesets" for potential Super Smash Bros. characters, spanning from Nintendo games and even other games by third-party companies.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a character from any particular video game you prefer. Most Smash Bros. characters come from familiar video games such as the "Mario" and "Legend of Zelda" series. Pick a character you feel fits the Smash Bros. series. Determine whether your chosen character fits "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" by observing the character in its original game. Take notes regarding its fighting style if necessary.

    • 2

Plan your chosen character's "Normal," "Smash" and "Special" attacks. The Super Smash Bros. series features a "two-button" control system, mainly dominated by these attack types while using the control stick and other available buttons. Create "Normal" attacks from simple movements, such as punches and kicks, that fit the character. Derive "Smash" and "Special" attacks from a character's "special moves" found in its original video game. Use your knowledge of your chosen character and its world to effectively create useful "Normal," "Smash" and "Special" attacks.

    • 3

Create your chosen character's "Final Smash." Trigger a "Final Smash" by breaking the elusive "Smash Ball," an item exclusive to "Super Smash Bros. Brawl." Final smashes come from a character's specialty or "unique" attacks within its original game. Choose the best-fitting "Final Smash" for your character by familiarizing yourself with its specialties and hidden quirks. Use special attacks or specialties from other "comrades" in your character's original game, if it doesn't have a particular specialty.
