Things You'll Need
Instructions
Ensure the game disc is inserted properly. Insert "Super Mario Galaxy" into your Nintendo Wii with the disc label facing right if the Wii is standing vertically. If the Wii is laying horizontally (with the disc slot at the top of the front) , insert the disc with the label facing up.
Inspect the "Super Mario Galaxy" disc for scratches, stickiness, smudges or damage marks. You can typically remove any smudges and sticky residue with a cotton shirt, stroking from the middle of the disc out to the edge of the disc (never around the disc). You can often repair slight scratches with disc cleaners available at many video game and retail stores.
Turn off the Wii console. Disconnect its power cable. Reconnect the power cable and turn on the console. Insert "Super Mario Galaxy" again. Sometimes resetting the console is similar to resetting a computer; the reset refreshes the console and clears any temporary errors.
Try to play the game on a different Wii. If "Super Mario Galaxy" plays in a different Wii, then the problem lies within your (first) console. If you do not have access to another Wii, you can try to play different games with your Wii. If you experience no problems with the other games, the "Super Mario Galaxy" disc is the problem and you'll likely need to buy a replacement for it.
