How to Jump When Playing Tennis on a Wii

The interactive Wii "Tennis" game, which is part of the "Wii Sports" title, requires the player to hold the remote like a tennis racket and swing at the ball. You may find yourself running side-to-side and jumping up to hit the ball, but that won't have any effect on your on-screen character or "Mii." The Mii will jump if the player raises the remote at the appropriate time. The height of the jump is determined by how fast you swing and raise the remote.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the Wii remote, or Wii tennis racket, in your hand. Slide your wrist through the remote's safety strap and adjust it to fit securely around your wrist.

    • 2

Hold your arm out directly in front of your body when the ball is coming in your direction. You may hold it toward the side of your body if that position is more comfortable.

    • 3

Raise, or swing, the end of the remote up to jump up and hit the ball if it is higher than your character. The game will automatically determine the height of the jump by how fast you swing the remote. If you swing fast enough, the character closest to the net will jump high enough to reach the ball before it goes over that character's head to the player on the baseline.
