Things You'll Need
Instructions
Download "Start Patch" software to your computer. The software is archived, so instead of saving the file, choose to "Open" the software with an archive application like WinRar.
Select the "Extract" option from the archive application. Choose a location to save the "Start Patch" data. Wait for the extraction to complete and exit out of the software.
Insert your Wii's SD card into a card reader on the computer. Go to "My Computer," double-click on the SD card and then open the "Apps" folder.
Drag and drop the "Start Patch" folder into the apps folder. Wait for the transfer to complete, remove the SD card from the computer and insert it into your Wii console.
Open the "Homebrew Channel" from the main menu of the Wii and find the "Start Patch" application link. Point the Wii remote at the icon and press "A."
Wait for the software to load. The screen will blink a few times, turn black and then the software information will load.
Press "A" to proceed and then use the directional pad to scroll through and select ISO236 and press "A" again.
Scroll through the list of patches and find "Skip the Update Check," "Block Online Updates" and "Block Disc Updates." Press "A" after each selection to add it to the patch list.
Save your selections by pressing "A" again and then "A" to start the download. Watch the onscreen progress to see how many patches are installed and how much remains.
Restart the Wii, run your back up disc and make sure the update screens do not appear. Reverse the installation by running the application and doing the same process.
