How to Make Copies of a Wii Disc

Right now Wii games are fun to play and very popular, which in turn makes them very expensive. Unfortunately, the game discs are also very fragile and easily scratched, and it's well-known how well little kids take care of things. Over time the scratches and smudged fingerprints will cause these costly items to stop working. When this happens, you could take the time out of your day and the money out of your pocket to replace the damaged game, or you could be proactive and back up your games on DVD-Rs now before they are destroyed. Most of the commonly used DVD burning programs will not allow you to burn Wii games, but there are a few out on the market that will allow you to accomplish this task. Once you have the correct software the process is relatively simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase or download and install a DVD burning program that can handle burning Wii games. There are many programs that have this ability, but the top two are Game Copier, which is a free shareware program, or BlindWrite, a for-profit program that is relatively inexpensive.

    • 2

Select the Wii game that you wish to backup and place it into the DVD drive of your computer. Open the burning program that you selected.

    • 3

Click on "Read" from the home screen of the burning program.

    • 4

Create a folder on your computer so that you can store the data from the Wii game temporarily.

    • 5

Select the "Synchronize" or copy button in the burning program. The ISO file from the Wii game will then be copied over into the temporary folder that you created.

    • 6

Remove the Wii game from the DVD drive.

    • 7

Place a blank DVD-R into the drive.

    • 8

From the main screen of the burning program select the "Write" option. You will be asked to locate the Wii ISO file that you stored in the temporary folder.

    • 9

Click on the "Copy" option, the Wii ISO file will be added to the DVD-R and your backup will be ready to use when needed.
