"Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise" takes the gardening and eco-management gameplay of the series and places it on a remote Pacific island. In addition to raising pinatas, growing exotic plants and landscaping his garden, the player must fend off ruffians who want to loot his property. Typically, this requires active participation by the player, but if you purchase the Captain's Cutlass, you can hang it in your garden to scare off any pirates or bandits. As with most items, you can purchase it at Ivor Bargain's shop.

Proceed through the game until you reach gardening level 30. You advance through the levels by successfully growing new plant species, as well as by attracting and breeding pinatas. Once you reach level 30, the Captain's Cutlass becomes available at Ivor Bargain's shop.

Leave your garden, and go to town. Enter Ivor Bargain's shop.
