There are gamers who like to tinker, to figure out how something worked or to fix or modify it themselves. The original Xbox 360 console catered to them: it came with a removable faceplate so you could access the hard drive or speaker, or paint the front face a custom color. This feature was discontinued with the 360s, the newest model of the Xbox, where the faceplate is permanently attached to the console itself.

Turn off your Xbox.

Unplug the unit and remove any external hard drives or extra memory.

Hold the console with one hand.

Push the faceplate away from the unit itself with your thumbs.
