How to Get the Internet on Your Kinect

Kinect is a motion-censored hardware device specifically for the Xbox 360 gaming console. Kinect serves as an add-on component for peripheral surveillance and Webcam capability on the Xbox 360. Kinect can also be used as a network communication device to establish an Internet connection on the Xbox 360. Getting the Internet with Kinect requires the establishment of a wireless connection. Configuring a wireless Internet connection for the Kinect is a bit tedious, but nevertheless can be accomplished.

Instructions

      Turn on the Xbox 360 gaming console. When the 360's main screen loads, select the "Go Wireless" option on the right side of the screen.

      Expand the Go Wireless menu options. The options should display a list of available Internet networks.

      Click the name of your wireless network (SSID). The console will shift to the Xbox 360 WEP Network screen.

      Use the Xbox 360 gaming controller and on-screen keypad to type your wireless network key for the Internet connection.

      Select "Done" in the lower-right corner of the screen to process your wireless network key entry. A warning screen will appear regarding the initiation of the connection. Confirm your desire to establish the connection by selecting "Yes" at the bottom of the screen. The gaming console system will begin testing the network key and wireless network connectivity.

      Register your Xbox 360 with Kinect when the Xbox Live account registration screen appears. You will be prompted to accept the Xbox Terms of Usage agreement and to provide a valid name and email address.
