How to Inject XEX to an Xbox 360

XEX is the default file extension designed specifically for use with the Xbox 360 gaming system. These types of files are not designed to be opened on your personal computer. They are used to update software on your Xbox system. In order to inject or copy specific XEX files to your Xbox through an xex menu application, you need to have an Xbox that has been jailbroken (hacked) for jtagging software. The process of the xexmenu application with associated xex files is fairly straightforward.

  Plug the USB storage drive into an available USB port on your computer. A folder for the drive will automatically open on your desktop.

  Double-click the "xexmenu" file package folder to extract the folder contents, then double-click the folder inside named "code999."

  Drag and drop the "code999" folder into the USB drive folder, then right-click inside the USB drive folder and select "New" to create a new folder. Name the new folder: "000000000000000" (16 zeros). The placement of these folders into the drive folder is sometimes referred to as "injecting." Then remove the USB drive from your computer.

  Press the "Power" button on your Xbox 360, then plug the USB drive into the first USB port on your Xbox console. The Xbox will automatically detect the drive and the application will install itself.

  Scroll to the "Game Library," then select the xexmenu and press the "X" button to launch the application.
