How to Add ABXY Buttons to Gamertag on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The online world of Xbox Live allows Xbox 360 owners the chance to compete in several arena-style death matches against one another. "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," sometimes referred to as "COD4" since it's the fourth installment in the series, is one such game. Players dodge, cover and fire across in-game environments and are identifiable only by their gamertags, the name that hovers above their character. Wily players can modify their Tags to read "ABXY"and thus cover up their true identities.

Instructions

  Plug in your hard drive, memory card or flash drive, which ever method you use to save game information on your Xbox 360 console. Open your saved profile by clicking on either Partition 2 (if you use memory cards or flash drives) or Partition 3 (for hard drive users.) Click "Content," then "Profile;" left-click to open a drop down menu, then select "Extract" to send your profile to the desktop of your laptop or PC.

  Click on the program "HEX Editor" saved on your desktop. If you don't have this program, an online search will reveal a few different sites for your perusal where you can download the editing program for free. Once you have the program installed, click to open it on your desktop, where you'll see your current gamertag displayed in a column on your right.

  Highlight your gamertag and type in whatever name you wish, in this case ABXY, where you will then see different corresponding binary number components displayed red in the large field of numbers on your left. Click on each individual pair of red numbers. For the first red number, type in 01; for the second, type in 02; for the third, 03 and finally for the fourth, 04. This changes the characters to ABXY.

  Click "Save," where the newly saved gamertag mod will be saved as a file on your desktop. Open your current profile again and right-click the menu option to overwrite the current saved file. Click "Yes." Click and Drag the newly saved gamertag file over to the Partition window. Your gamertag is now successfully saved and will register as ABXY when you play "COD4" online.
