Fable 2 Glitch: My Guy Won't Run

Nothing is more frustrating than getting caught by a group of werewolves and finding yourself unable to run in Lionhead Studios' popular role-playing title "Fable 2." A number of factors can prevent you from running in "Fable 2," from problems with your controller's joystick to your character's weight.
  1. Cut Scenes

    • In cut scenes and certain other segments of the game, your character cannot run because the creators of "Fable 2" intend for you to pay attention to the plot details unfolded during these scenes. You do not need to worry about being attacked, as enemies also cannot run during these scenes. If this is the case, simply wait for the cut scene to end. You should find yourself able to run.

    Joystick Problems

    • As with many other Xbox 360 titles, the control settings for "Fable 2" do not assign the run function to a specific button on the Xbox 360 controller. Instead, you run by tilting the joystick sharply in the direction in which you wish to go. A worn-out joystick may not register that you are trying to run. If this is the case, replace your controller.

    Obese Character

    • One of the most innovative aspects of "Fable 2" is its body weight system for player characters. The diet you feed your character determines his weight and other aspects of his appearance. If you offer him vegetables and healthy beverages, he will remain trim and muscular, while if you give him nothing but meat pies to eat and beer to drink, he will eventually become obese. With obesity comes an inability to run. If your character's weight is preventing him from running, try putting him on a weight loss diet.

    Excess Equipment

    • "Fable 2" features an encumbrance system that controls how much weight your character can carry on his person. How much you have developed your character's strength determines how much he can carry. Barely exceeding your current encumbrance limit will prevent your character from running -- greatly exceeding it will stop you from even being able to walk. To restore your character's running ability, unload some of your excess equipment. You can sell items you don't need to store owners, give them as gifts to computer controlled characters or just drop them on the side of the road.
