How to Find Gamertags on Xbox

The Gamertag acts as your permanent ID while connected to Xbox Live. Anyone you encounter in multiplayer games or parties will see and identify you by the Gamertag. At the time of publication, Microsoft has no feature on its website or built into the Xbox that allows you to see if a Gamertag is in use without going through the registration process. Many Xbox community websites allow you to find search for Gamertags.

     Open a Web browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.

     Enter the Web address of the website, you want to use to find the Gamertags, such as gamertagchecker.com or checkgamertag.com

     Type the Gamertag you want to look for into the appropriate bar on the website and press the "Enter" key. The website will display whether the Gamertag is taken or available.
