What Is the Max Level of Forge?

"Halo 3" and "Halo: Reach" both have a built-in game mode called Forge. This mode allows gamers to modify and create custom multiplayer maps and environments. In Forge, gamers have a certain amount of credits they can spend on items used to create these environments. Additionally, there are only so many items gamers can place on the map. Both of these parameters help define the maximum levels in Forge, since it is not a ranked game format.
  1. Tools and Game Play

    • Halo Forge allows the gamer to fly around the map as the Monitor, placing items on the map or hovering in the air. Each time a weapon, vehicle, or terrain element is purchased, the "cost" of that item subtracts the total amount of credits available to the player. As more purchases are made, the amount of total credits dwindles to zero. Players must make decisions regarding the balance of environment, weaponry and vehicle deployments as a result. The maximum credit level players start with is 1,500 on the map "Sandtrap."

    Vehicle Restrictions

    • Depending on the map, a maximum number of vehicles are available. For example, on most maps, the Scorpion tank is only allowed two placements, most likely due to the space needed to drive the vehicle as well as the high amount of damage it dishes out. Smaller vehicles, such as Covenant Ghosts and Warthog jeeps, can typically number from three to five, also depending on the map. As with any item on Forge, vehicles subtract from the maximum credit level initially allotted to the player.

    Runtime

    • Runtime exploits allow gamers to max out their credits, with the total amount never decreasing. Runtime maximum and minimum can be set to one notch above preset value, preventing credits from decreasing. Setting the maximum and minimum values ensures that there is always one more or one less of an item than the initial preset, depending on the wishes of the gamer.

    Restrictions

    • All weapons, vehicles, credits and Forge purchasing benefits are map-dependent. Additional settings are available that restrict other players from entering the "edit" mode, preventing cheats and glitches that would cause chaos. Rank levels in Forge custom matches are irrelevant, since all Forge slayer and objective gametypes are custom, evading the Matchmaking system. Ranking in "Halo 3" is therefore disabled in the Trueskill system, preventing players from putting Experience points towards reaching the maximum level. However, "Halo: Reach" credits can be earned, going toward ranking up and Armory purchases.
