How to Install UnleashX on Xbox Without Action Replay

The UnleashX program modifies and replaces the Xbox game console's Dashboard. The replacement Dashboard allows the Xbox to perform tasks that otherwise it could not, such as playing legally copied games on discs and accessing online website downloads. UnleashX can be installed on the Xbox without disassembling the case or putting in any components. Supplies from a hobby shop or computer store are needed.

Xbox USB controller
Xbox game controller

Instructions

  Insert the USB flash drive that has UnleashX into the USB socket on the Xbox USB controller. Plug the controller's USB cable into a USB socket on the Xbox. Turn the Xbox on. Do nothing until the main screen appears.

  Insert the video game disc that has the Xbox exploit into the Xbox. Do nothing until the main menu from the game appears on the screen.

  Highlight "Game Save" from the list of choices on the screen with the direction pad. Press the "X" button to open the "Game Save" menu.

  Select the thumb drive from the list of "Devices" on the screen using the direction pad. Press the "X" button to launch the UnleashX installation. Let the UnleashX main screen appear before continuing.

  Highlight "Move EPROM to G" from the onscreen menu, using the direction pad. Press the "X" button. Highlight "Make Backup" from the screen. Press the "X" button. Do nothing until the menu reappears on the screen. Highlight "Back to menu" using the direction pad. Press the "X" button.

  Highlight "Install Dashboard" from the onscreen menu. Press the "X" button. Confirm the choice by highlighting "Yes" in a pop-up window. Press the "X" button again. Do nothing until the Xbox shuts itself off and reboots.

  Eject the game disc. Turn the Xbox off. Remove the USB cable attached to the controller from the Xbox. Take the thumb drive out of the controller.
